ABOUT VANCOUVER
The City
Vancouver, Canada boasts one of the most spectacular city settings
in the world, sitting on the edge of the Pacific Ocean and
surrounded by the Coastal Mountains in the Province of British
Columbia. The proximity of urban life to sea and mountains is what
makes Vancouver so special. Visitors to Vancouver can ski or hike
on Grouse Mountain in the morning and sit on one
of Vancouver's many beaches in the afternoon.
A visit to Stanley Park is a must; covering
more than 1,000 acres, it is one of North America's largest city
parks and houses the Vancouver Aquarium. From
Stanley Park, cross the Lion's Gate Bridge to the exclusive North
Shore and head for the Capilano Suspension Bridge,
a swaying footbridge, 230 feet above Capilano River. Back in
Vancouver, you can take a ferry across False Creek to
Granville Island, with its lively public market,
coffee shops, restaurants and bars, then head over to Vancouver's
Chinatown to experience the jostling street
markets. Further attractions worth visiting are the
Vancouver Maritime Museum and Vancouver
Art Gallery.
Conveniently situated in downtown Vancouver, the Vancouver
Convention & Exhibiton Centre is just minutes from
Robson Street. Known as the most eclectic street
in the city, it is home to unique boutiques and some of the world's
most famous retailers. Within walking distance of the hotel is
historic Gastown. Renowned for its cobblestone
streets, attractive mews and Victorian architecture, this charming
area of Vancouver houses shops, restaurants and the world's first
steam clock! The Vancouver Convention & Exhibiton Centre is
also just three blocks away from the Pacific Centre
Mall with over 300 shops.
Close to Stanley Park and the Seawall, the convention centre is
within easy access of numerous outdoor activities such as cycling,
tennis or rollerblading. Vancouver also has a wide variety of golf
courses, each with its own distinctive challenges and settings. For
spectator sports, take in a hockey game with the famed
Vancouver Canucks.
